For Students
Dear Hurricane Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are looking forward to a year of growth and learning. It is an honor to serve the students, staff, families, and community of Houston Public Schools. A special welcome to all of our incoming students and new students to the Houston Public School family.
There will be some changes in the roles of administrators in our district. Mrs. Alexa Michaels will be our high school assistant principal and Mrs. Angela McQuinn will be our elementary school assistant principal. We will function together as a team and we are all here to help and support your child/children and you.
At Houston Public Schools we work in partnership with families and the community to support ALL HPS students being successful in their lives. We help our students thrive through implementing high expectations both academically and as civic leaders in our society. HHS continues to create enrichment opportunities that support the individual interest and passions of our students based on Houston Public Schools’ pillars for continuous improvement: Connections and Relationships, Growth, Student Achievement, and Partnerships & Real-World Learning.
At the high school, our Advisory program focuses on social/emotional learning through our PATH program (Purpose, Attitude, Team, Hope), Human Connections, and career/college readiness for all students in grades 7-12. Our school community lives out our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) initiative to promote a school that is Safe, Dedicated, Encouraging, and Community.
The Houston Public Schools staff and teachers look forward to welcoming students! As we dive into the 24-25 school year, we invite you to support your student by being flexible, empathetic, setting high expectations, and holding your student accountable. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
At Houston Public Schools we continue our mission to Discover, Develop, and Achieve the potential within all learners. Thank you families for all that you do to Strengthen the Hurricane.
Looking forward to a great 2024-2025 school year!
Alexa Michaels, Assistant Principal
